The Best Skincare Tools & Devices to Use At Home
This video goes over some of the best skincare tools and devices that I use at home to get spa-like results. You can use these tools to do your own laser hair removal, get your own gel manicure, and many other things. I’ve got you covered with everything from hair, nails, to skin treatments right here!
The Best Skincare Tools & Devices to Use At Home
It’s a little difficult to keep up with our normal beauty routines right now since we can’t go to the salon or spa. But there are a ton of great alternatives to use right at home that give you the same (or similar) results as going in for the actual treatments. Below is are some of my favorite beauty products to use when you can’t go in for your favorite services + a video from my YouTube Channel where I talk about a few other things. I’ve got you covered with everything from hair, nails, to skin treatments right here!
Products Mentioned
Kenzzi IPL Laser Hair Removal
If you’ve been wanting to do laser hair removal but not pay the big money to get it done in the salon, check this little device out. I’ve been using it for a few months and LOVE the results! It also comes at a fraction of the cost of getting salon treatments and you can use it on your whole body. Use the code “ANAREBECA” for $50 off.
Gel UV Nail Lamp
While a trip to the salon will obviously yield longer lasting results, this is a great alternative to use at home. I love this lamp because it is compact and great to store in small spaces.
Base + Top Coat
When you’re using the UV Lamp for a gel manicure at home, you’re going to need special polish for each step (base coat, color, top coat). I’ve used this brand, as well as Essie’s Gel Base + Top Coat. This one is nice because you don’t have to use any rubbing alcohol to wipe the top coat off after you finish.
Essie Gel Polish
Having a go-to gel color to use for your manicure is always a must! My personal favorite that is usually on my nails is Essie’s Mademoiselle.
Polish to Gel Formula
This formula is INCREDIBLE for people who want to turn their regular nail polish colors into gel colors. All you do is mix 50/50 of this and your regular nail polish and it turns it into a gel that you can use with the UV Lamp! It’s brilliant!
Gel Manicure Starter Kit
This is a great starter kit if you want a one-stop-shop kind of vibe with the lamp, some colors, and a manicure set! The price is very reasonable as well.
Facial Steamer
I wanted something that would help my skincare products penetrate deeper into my skin and I found that a facial steamer is a great option for that. I’ve used mine a handful of times and don’t know how I’ve gone this far without it. A simple routine you can follow is to steam, do an exfoliating mask, follow with a moisturizing mask, and then top it off with your favorite oils or moisturizer.
Conair Facial Steamer
This is the one I mentioned in my video that has dual attachments that you can switch out. I’m very happy with it so far!
Captain Green Ultrasonic Skin Scrubber + Pore Extractor
This is a new purchase for me, but I’m loving the results so far. It’s a multi-use tool that helps to deep clean your skin, extract dirt and oil, and infuse your skin care ingredients deeper into your skin. It also claims to help circulation amongst other things.
LED Light Therapy Face Mask
Harness the healing powers of LED light therapy on your face with this FDA-approved mask. I like this one because you can change the light, intensity, and time based on whatever your skin needs that day.

Products Mentioned
Olaplex No. 3
Repairing + Strengthening Treatment to use in your hair either weekly or bi-weekly. I like to use this on my color treated hair 2-3 times per month to maintain its strength.
Olaplex No. 4
This is my preferred shampoo to use on a weekly basis. As of now, I’ve been using it for almost 1 year and am a huge fan. It has definitely made a difference on the strength and health of my hair.
Olaplex No. 5
The brand’s conditioner is the final step while I’m in the shower. The best thing about the shampoo and conditioner is that it is extremely concentrated so you don’t have to use a lot. These bottles can last a long time if you’re using the suggested amount.
Olaplex No. 6
The Bond Smoother is a leave-in treatment once you step out of the shower that helps to strengthen, hydrate, protect, and fight frizz.
Olaplex No. 7
The Bonding Oil is a perfect final step if you’re using any kind of heat styling or if you want to add a little more shine and strength to your hair. It’s a lightweight oil so it won’t weigh your hair down. Highly recommend this to protect your hair from the curling iron!
Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer
I know this is a splurge item, but I emotionally purchased this hair dryer a year ago when I was in a low period and I’m so grateful to have it. Drying time is faster and it has all the attachments to do whatever kind of blowout I want right at home!
Conair 1” Curling Iron
This isn’t the exact one in my video because the one I’m using is a very old model, but you just need a 1” curling iron to have the same effect. Conair has some great and inexpensive products to use!
Ouai Mini Texturizing Hair Spray
Space is limited in my NYC apartment, so I like to get minis of my favorite hair products. I’m also not one to use hair spray very much, so it makes more sense for me financially as well.
IGK Mini Volumizing Texturizing Hair Spray
Another great mini hair spray option if you want to add a little volume in addition to the texture of the hair style.

Gel UV Nail Lamp
While a trip to the salon will obviously yield longer lasting results, this is a great alternative to use at home. I love this lamp because it is compact and great to store in small spaces.
Manicure Set
The key to a great manicure is the right prep work beforehand. If you don’t have one already, get a little manicure set like this one to keep your nails fresh before you paint them or add any treatment.
Base + Top Coat

Olaplex No. 3 Hair Treatment
The entire Olaplex system is incredible for repairing and building stronger hair, but its Number 3 is a particularly great treatment to use if you have damaged hair from too much heat styling, color, etc.
Briogeo Deep Conditioning Mask
I’ve been testing out a few different Deep Conditioning hair masks and this one from Briogeo is one of my favorites that I keep going back to. It leaves your hair feelings silky smooth and much more manageable.
Christophe Robin Perfect Hair Duo
I found this little duo a couple weeks ago and have been loving the combined results. The white jar is a cleansing scrub for your scalp that helps removes all the product/gunk buildup. The red jar is an amazing conditioning mask that helps revitalize your hair. I’ll definitely be purchasing the regular size in each once I finish them!
Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer
I know this is a splurge item, but I emotionally purchased this hair dryer a year ago when I was in a low period and I’m so grateful to have it. Drying time is faster and it has all the attachments to do whatever kind of blowout I want right at home!
Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer Brush
If you want to give yourself a salon-like blowout in the comfort of your home, this is an excellent tool to use! It will give your hair a smooth, sleek look that is pumped with tons of volume. People have actually asked me if I went for a salon blowout when I’ve only used this.
Skin
Facial Steamer
I wanted something that would help my skincare products penetrate deeper into my skin and I found that a facial steamer is a great option for that. I’ve used mine a handful of times and don’t know how I’ve gone this far without it. A simple routine you can follow is to steam, do an exfoliating mask, follow with a moisturizing mask, and then top it off with your favorite oils or moisturizer.
PMD Personal Microderm Classic
This little device allows you to perform a simple microdermabrasion treatment without stepping foot into the salon. It comes with different tips to change out based on your needs.
Herbivore Facial Roller
Jade rollers work great to support lymphatic drainage and reduce the appearance of puffiness and wrinkles. It also helps to penetrate your skincare deeper into the skin once you’ve applied it. Sometimes, I’ll leave mine in the refrigerator for a bit to give it an extra cooling sensation.
Microfiber Towels
The towels you use to dry your skin are just as important as the products you put on it. The Microfiber Towels and a great alternative to regular towels that will be much more gentle on your face.
PTR Hydra-Gel Eye Patches
These Peter Thomas Roth eye patches are an absolute dream for when I’m feeling puffy or need an extra dose of hydration under my eyes for whatever reason. They also just feel super luxurious. I also leave these in the refrigerator to give an additional cooling effect when I apply them.
Biossance Squalane + Glycolic Mask
Biossance has a lot of incredible, clean products in their lineup, and this facial mask is one of my favorites for exfoliating and giving me a fresh glow. I use this after I steam my face, and then follow it up with a potent moisturizer. BONUS TIP: Use a brush like this one to apply the mask so you don’t get your hands messy or risk contamination.
EcoTools D.I.Y. Maskmates Kit
I love this little kit because the brush can be used with any face mask to eliminate the contamination you risk when you continuously dip your fingers into a mask jar; but it’s also great for creating your own D.I.Y. masks at home! It has a little dish for mixing and a muddler to bring your recipe together.
Mask Remover Sponges
These sponges help to wipe away your mask once you’re finished. I love them because they offer an additional step of gentle exfoliation when you remove your mask. Plus, they just feel super spa-like.
Schick Dermaplaning & Exfoliating Tool
I’ve been using these dermaplaning tools at home for a couple of years now and I’m obsessed. They help to exfoliate the skin, get rid of unwanted peach fuzz, and eliminate unwanted hairs around your eyebrows or other areas of the face. Highly recommend these because they don’t break the bank either!

10 Self Improvement Books To Read On Your Next Trip
On my recent journey to self discovery, I took it upon myself to do a really deep dive into improving my overall wellbeing and mental state by just about any means necessary. I found a lot of solace in reading and listening to audiobooks that helped give me daily “AHA!” moments and led me down a path of loving myself again. The following are just a few of my favorites that led to some of the most profound realizations in my journey to self improvement. If you’re like me and you vibe with self help books, read on to see some of my favorites that you can enjoy on your next trip!
30 Day Mindset Mastery
Shameless plug, but who cares? My first eBook (which will absolutely be turned into a full book one day) offers a step-by-step guide on how to completely shift your mindset to create a life you love living every single day. It is the exact framework I used to get me out of anxiety and depression, overcome tough financial times, and find myself again. I highly recommend it to anyone who is feeling stuck in their life and ready for a major shift.
Super Attractor
Gabby Bernstein has a whole library of books that are incredible for self improvement and spirituality (I particularly love The Universe Has Your Back and May Cause Miracles). Super Attractor, her latest book to the collection, gives readers some great tips on how to manifest by harnessing the power of the Universe at your side.
Becoming Supernatural
For me, Dr. Joe Dispenza’s books were life changing. His books were truly turning points for me in realizing that I was at the helm of creating my own reality. He uses science-based research and Quantum Physics to back up the ideas of manifestation. I also enjoy his other books, You Are the Placebo and Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself
You Are A Badass
If you haven’t read this book yet, what the hell are you doing? Jen Sincero offers a straightforward message here about how we can all step into our magnificent powers and start living the life of our dreams. She’s recently come out with You Are A Badass At Making Money, which helps readers overcome their fears and doubts about unlocking the power to financial abundance.
The Power of Your Subconscious Mind
Along with Dr. Joe Dispenza, Joseph Murphy and Neville Goddard have been my mentors through their teachings on how to harness the power of your subconscious mind to manifest anything you want. I’ve listened to this book on audio over and over and continue to find new nuggets of information to use in my daily life.
The Path Made Clear
If you’re looking for a book that will make you feel inspired and motivated, check out this or The Wisdom of Sundays. Oprah has collections of teachings and quotes from herself and other well known individuals on how to discover your life’s purpose and bring it to forth. It makes for a great coffee table book, too!
The Power of Now
This book helped me put anxiety and depression into perspective. When you realize that all there is is the present moment, you can learn to release any feelings, doubts, or worries about the future or past (which is all anxiety and depression is). It is an incredible book for anyone looking to expand their awareness of their reality.
Big Magic
This one is for all my fellow creatives and entrepreneurs out there! If you’re feeling stuck, blocked, or consumed by fear when it comes to creating your art, this is the book you’ll want to pick up. She offers practical advice mixed with her own experience that makes you feel like you’re not alone in your struggle.
The Life Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck
This was the first of four books by Sarah Knight that I read. Once I finished the first one, I knew I had to grab anything else she had out. I resonate a lot with her style of explaining things as she talks about how to own your shit and not give a f*ck about what anyone else thinks. I’m here for it. Check this one out as well as Get Your Shit Together and You Do You.
The Alchemist
This one is truly a classic for anyone who loves travel or self improvement. There is a reason why it is still one of the best selling books of all time! Just read it already if you haven’t.

The Best Dry Skin Care Products for Travel
If you’ve ever experienced the harsh conditions of travel on your skin, you know how inconvenient it can feel to have dry skin when all you want is that supple glow. After years of trials and testing during my travels, I’ve assembled a steady defense of skin care warriors that help me combat even the driest of conditions. These are some of my favorite moisturizers, serums, masks, treatments, sun care, cleansers, and tools to use during travel whenever I experience dry skin.
The Best Dry Skin Care Products for Travel
For me, there are few things as irritating as getting off an airplane with my skin feeling dry as hell and looking like a rough kitchen sponge. No, thank you! As someone who has dealt with dry/combo skin for most of my life, I have tried just about every moisturizer, serum, and remedy under the sun to make sure that my skin stays supple and fresh year round (gotta maintain that JLO glow, right?!). But sometimes, the harsh conditions of traveling just can’t help but get in the way.
After years of trials and testing during my travels, I’ve assembled a steady defense of skin care warriors that help me combat even the driest of conditions. These are some of my favorite moisturizers, serums, masks, treatments, sun care, cleansers, and tools to use during travel. Everything listed below is a product that I swear by and have in my travel kit throughout the year to keep my skin at bay from any harsh environment.
Moisturizers + Serums
Drunk Elephant Lala Retro
Another great savior in the winter months. Drunk Elephant has a lot of great, clean products and this is one of the best for dry skin that needs a pick-me-up. Mix this with their Protini Polypeptide Moisturizer to get an extra boost.
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream
This is like holy grail status for anything you need. Eczema? Check. Dry hands? Check. Great moisturizer? Check. I always have a tube of this in my travel kit because of how versatile it is.
Olehenriksen
C-Rush Gel Crème
If my face is feeling a little dull, this is my go-to moisturizer to give it that hint of brightness that it’s missing. It feels so smooth on the skin and layers really nicely under makeup. They also have a travel size that comes with the eye cream that I love!
Sunday Riley Juno Oil
This is my holy grail moisturizing oil whenever I need year-round nourishment. It is nice and thick, but not too thick that it leaves you feeling like you’ve been standing over a fryer. I also mix a few drops of this in with my foundation if I really need a boost.
Farmacy Honey Grail Oil
Another super thick face oil that will leave your skin hydrated all day long. This one is especially helpful for those long haul flights that make your skin feel like the Sahara Desert.
Youth To The People Superberry Hydrate + Glow Oil
This oil is my go-to whenever I need moisture and glow. It is also packed with antioxidants that nourish the skin throughout the day.
Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil
I’ve been using this oil for years and keep coming back to it throughout the year. I love it because it replenishes my skin and complexion in the winter, but also provides a fresh base when I want to go makeup free in the summer. It is a great year-round oil to keep in your rotation!
Masks + Treatments
Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask
I’m not going to lie… I was very skeptical about this mask before purchasing it. I thought it was just going to be an over-hyped social media trend. Rest assured, it is not. It is actually an incredible mask that can double as a thick moisturizer on your driest days. I’m officially a super fan and swear by it!
YTTP Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask
This overnight mask packs just as much punch as its counterpart face oil. I love to use this as my final layer of skin care whenever I need a boost of moisture from traveling. Love the Vitamin C and antioxidants it contains as well!
Ren Evercalm Overnight Recovery Balm
This is the best absolute overnight moisturizer to use if you’re dealing with irritation, redness, or dry skin. It is gentle enough for my sensitive skin and has brought me back to life on the harshest winter nights.
Belif Aqua Bomb Sleeping Mask
This is my go-to for repairing my skin during/after any long haul flight. This hydrating overnight mask seriously delivers a straight-up dewy, moisturized complexion that makes me feel like I just spent a day in a tropical climate. Highly recommend this to my fellow dry skin people!
Aquaphor Healing Ointment
This is another catch-all product that is always in my travel kit. I use this on my lips, hands, eczema flare ups, and anywhere else that needs a little soothing touch. This is one of my favorite all purpose treatments for travel!
Tea Tree Oil
If you haven’t gotten the memo yet, Tea Tree Oil is the best natural product to use for blemishes. I’ve been using this holy grail oil since my teenage years and no blemish can stand a chance against it. I do recommend layering it with a moisturizer or oil if your skin is really dry at the time of application. It is fairly inexpensive and you can pick it up anywhere.
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
Along with Aquaphor, this is one of my favorite lip moisturizing treatments to use year-round. It plumps, moisturizes, and leaves your lips feeling supple and juicy after every application.
Drunk Elephant Rise + Glow Duo
As someone who deals with hyperpigmentation because of my Latin/olive complexion, using a Vitamin C treatment has really helped to combat any signs of that condition. I love this duo because it gives you the Vitamin C serum along with a hydrating serum so you can get that ultimate moisture barrier. Plus it’s travel size!
SUn care + Cleansers + Tools
Murad City Skin SPF 50++++
As a city dweller, this mineral sunscreen is my top pick for protecting my skin against all types of environmental harshness that I experience on a daily basis. I love this one too because it goes on really smooth underneath my makeup and seems to give me a fresh glow.
Volition Luminizing SPF 50
I love this sunscreen because it provides a subtle glow while protecting my skin. It also layers nicely under makeup and still feels very moisturizing.
It Cosmetics CC+ Cream SPF 50+
This product is like a skin care-meets-makeup gift from the Goddesses above. It is incredible for anyone with dry skin because it offers a dewy, full coverage kind of look, while also giving you the SPF benefits of a powerful sunscreen. You will always find this in my travel kit.
Farmacy Green Clean Balm
This is by far my favorite makeup remover of all time. It takes some getting used to if you’ve never used a balm or oil to remove your makeup, but it’s extremely simple to use. I love this for my dry skin because it doesn’t strip away my natural oils, but it also takes away every last bit of mascara and foundation I have on.
YTTP Superfood Cleanser
If you couldn’t tell by now, I tend to gravitate towards clean brands that pack a punch with their products. This is an excellent gentle cleanser that serves as my second cleanse after I remove my makeup. It also helps to keep your skin’s pH balanced.
Fancii Portable Humidifier
Yes, you read that right: a portable humidifier. This little device is amazing to travel with whenever you’re visiting colder climates or you want to add some moisture back into the air of your dry hotel room. It is super compact and easy to use. I recommend using a Smartwater bottle with it to keep the nozzle in place.
Clarisonic Mia Cleansing Brush
This cleansing brush is a game changer for year-round skin care benefits. I love that the device offers two different cleansing modes so you can switch to whatever your skin needs—especially if it is feeling a little more dry and you don’t want to strip it of its natural oils.
Shiseido Facial Cotton
This product is kind of a splurge for what it is; but I promise once you use it, you won’t want to go back to your old drugstore cotton wipes ever again. These cotton pads are soft on the skin and absorb more liquid that normal pads, which is great to help your products go a long way. I like to cut mine in half so I get double the use of one package.

8 Travel Beauty Tips: How to Look Fresh After a Long Haul Flight
One of the worst things about travel (besides the dreaded act of packing) is when you walk off of a long haul flight feeling completely drab and disgusting. Your skin is dry, your hair is a mess, and you just feel blah.
Luckily, there are a few beauty remedies that you can start using to feel completely fresh faced every time you step off a flight. Use these 8 travel beauty tips to start looking and feeling your best after any flight.
1. Pack the Essentials in Your Carry-On
First thing will be to make sure you have all of your beauty essentials within arms reach. Make sure to pack your carry-on with all the essentials you'll need so you don't have to rummage around for them. I'll go over some of my essential items in the list below, but the best thing is to make sure you have a good bag to pack them all in. 2. Hold Off on the Makeup (and maybe the contact lenses)
If your flight is more than 3 hours and you really want to feel your best when you land, it's probably best to skip on the makeup before you take off. The air in the cabin is typically pretty dry and harsh, so it's best to have a fresh face to start off with. If you really need some color, opt for the bare minimum like tinted moisturizer and a touch of concealer.
If you wear contact lenses, it can be really helpful to take them out for long haul and overnight flights to let your eyes breathe. Have your glasses and maybe some moisturizing eye drops handy to soothe your eyes before you put your lenses back in.
3. For Ladies: Prepare to Keep Fresh...Ahem...Down There
Alright ladies... How many beauty lists have we seen that talk about beauty products to travel with? Tons (Hell, I even have one)! But it seems like they all fail to mention how you can keep fresh around your lady parts. The best thing to keep handy in your bag are some panty liners, disposable cleansing cloths, and an extra change of underwear. My mom passed on this trick to me and now I never travel without any of these things in my bag. It helps to make sure you feel fresh and clean once you land, even if you can't have a shower for a while.
4. Hydrate, Moisturize, Hydrate, Repeat
The best way to step off that airplane looking fresh faced is to hydrate your body and skin as frequently as possible throughout your flight. You can do this by drinking tons of water, putting moisturizer on your face, using a sheet mask, lotioning up your hands, using lip balm, and drinking more water.
5. Skip the Salt, Coffee, and Booze
The worst thing you can do for your complexion before and during a flight is overload on salty foods and alcohol. The salt causes major bloat, which doesn't help when you're sitting for long periods of time, and the alcohol and coffee will just dry out your skin and system. If possible, opt for healthier snack choices and drink plenty of water. The more you replenish with water, the brighter your skin will look when you arrive to your destination.
6. Rest Up Comfortably
There are a few ways that you can make sure you feel totally comfortable on a flight. First, make sure you're wearing comfortable clothes (leggings, flowy tops, scarves, maxi dresses, flats, etc.) to let your skin breathe. Second, bring along a cozy blanket, a silky eye mask, and a neck pillow. A pair of earplugs or noise canceling headphones never hurt either...
7. Freshen Up Before Landing
When the flight attendants give the "final stretch" announcement before landing, that's a perfect time to start freshening up. Carry a little travel kit that has all of your essentials in it so you can grab it and head to the lavatory to take care of business. In my travel kit, I like to keep a small travel toothbrush/toothpaste, moisturizer, thermal water misting spray, highlight or concealer, a blush/bronzer kit, mascara, and my feminine care (see above #3).
8. Give Your Hair a Lift Once You Land
The final step to looking fresh after a long haul flight is to give your hair a little oomph. A little dry shampoo and some hair spray can really work wonders to make you look like you're ready to step out in style. Carrying this and a travel size hair brush will give you the perfect volume you need.
With these travel beauty tips and products, you're sure to walk off your long haul flight looking as fresh and as radiant as ever!
